In 1837, the miraculous statue of less than a feet of St. Anthony was found floating in the nearby waterbody by a resident. He ignored the statue and threw the net at a different location. But the statue resurfaced to the new location. He kept changing the location, but the statue kept resurfacing to him.
Puzzled by this, he took the statue with him to his home. At night, St. Anthony appeared to him in his sleep, called him by his name and asked him to build a church in Kohur for St. Anthony.
In the morning, he professed these to the people of the village and thus a small hut church with the miraculous statue of St. Anthony was built in 1837.
Since then, people have received numerous blessings through St. Anthony and the faith has reached throughout the neighbourhood.
The annual feast celebrated in the month of June every year is well attended by a lakh of people which is quite unusual for a very small church which is not well known in the social media. This stands a testimony to this miraculous St. Anthony of Kohur.
